ADVOCACY
Can’t find an appointment right now?
We’re so glad you reached out. We’re also truly sorry we can’t see everyone who needs us.
Cycles to Cessation is a pilot virtual menopause clinic, funded for three years through a partnership between the Government of Alberta and the University of Alberta. Our clinic is currently staffed for the equivalent of 1 full-time Nurse Practitioner.
Providing safe, thorough, person-centered menopause care takes time. Each visit includes a detailed history, education, shared decision making, and follow up. This means that, even working at full capacity, we can only safely see a limited number of people per day, week, and month.
We know that the demand for perimenopause and menopause care in Alberta is much larger than what our small pilot program can currently offer. That reality is heartbreaking for us. It directly contradicts our goal: we want every individual who meets criteria for menopause care to have access to it.
If you’re here and can’t find an available appointment:
We are truly sorry we can’t offer you a visit at this time.
This is not a reflection of how important your symptoms or concerns are.
It is a reflection of limited funding and affordable menopause care in our province.
How you can help improve access
If you feel comfortable, you can help advocate for expanded and sustained funding for menopause care in Alberta.
More funding could mean:
Additional nurse practitioner and/or physician time
Expanded clinic hours
Shorter wait times and more appointment availability
The ability to offer this service to more women across the province
